I have never been to a protest in my life....until tonight.

I really love my teen daughter...she is the one who gets me to join in. (and I was the driver lol)

So we made our signs, my daughter had her first aid kit and her strategy if thing got narly....dude, it's TAHOE...our cops are mostly chill and the vigil/protest was coordinated by old hippies...I think we're safe.

but I went, and I yelled, I cried, I heard stories of local folks I didn't know who had experienced brutality and trauma because of their color.

We had a moment, and even though I got old-ass bones, I did it.
We kneeled and held up our fists for 9:56
Then everyone laid down on their belly and said "I can't breathe" and "say his name"

I bawled my eyes out.

and even though we were masked, we looked in eachother's eyes, and we all held the same hope...

No Justice, No Peace

Thankfully the SLTPD only drove by and didn't stop/ If it was the county boys, they are racist AF I dont trust them.
There were about a handful of Trumpers that tried to start shit...and the crowd chanted "kill them with WHAT?" ..."KINDNESS"

then we stood on the highway and chanted and ylled and got cars and trucks to honk in solidarity

it was a little small town thing, maybe 1000 people
but I am going back tomorrow
I want to add my voice to the fray in whatever way I can

We are all in this together

she had about 5 friends, we had to cram everyone in the car

But I am glad they all got to exercise their voices.

First I learned how to be an LGBT Ally...most of her fiends are some stripe...

Now I get to learn how to be a racial ally too.

I guess old dogs can learn new tricks ...

Mostly everyone was masked and stayed distant

But it was respectful...
I am worried about going again
But it's important

Whatever, I'd rather die doing something important and not sitting at home...

The way i am able to support is through donations, and I have done so many times.

We help in ways we are able!

Nice account , this is how good politics get done. Don't overdue it early, there will be letdowns and stumbles but play a long game.

He was taking part in a protest in Florida. It was in a large college parking lot. I guess the cops saw them as a threat so teargas and rubber bullets were fired into the crowd.

I had a couple moment of fear last night, but there were no police present, only a couple roll bys. The few white assholes who came and bumped into people and talked shit were one, and then as we were standing on the highway holding up signs and chanting, many were honking horns in solidarity, but I was afraid that a trumflag waving truck would drive by and just shoot randomly...i worried for a split second that I was in a bad place

Our mayor was out there early on and talking with organizers and folks there...
We have about 20K population, but MANY 2nd homeowners and visitors
