Did you really think it would get this bad?

> 100,000 dead and 1.7 million cases of C-19

A trade war with China that has put thousands of farmers out of business or having to plow their crops
into the ground

Disruption of the food supply chain

40+ million unemployed

Police and the military beating, gassing, and arresting American citizens

An A.G. (Bill Barr) and the DoJ, the Congressional Republicans, and the media giving Trump and company
cover for their crimes

When told of a coming pandemic in Nov. 2019 Trump and Kushner instead of getting us ready choose to find ways
to make money from the disease

Trump still having almost weekly conversations with Vlad Putin who installed him into power

Trump actively promoting racist right wing thugs to intimidate legally elected government officials

The invasion of an Episcopal Church's grounds after gassing and the beating of innocent people for a photo op.

Trump impeached and then the Senate Republicans refused to see the evidence or hear any testimony and gave
Trump a pass on his crimes and treason.

Who are these people? And when did Bill Barr get a private army?

Eventually, I stuck my toes back into the market in 2018, but only into dividend paying equities or fixed income instruments. Kept a lot of cash. Overall, took about 10% hit to value from end of February to lowest point. Wish I'd kept more in cash. Hindsight is 20/20, right?

I've only booked the loss on one stock. Guess I'm going to hang in there with the rest. Added a bit to some. Taking the cash and using for down payment on a house since I've been renting.

If Biden doesn't win in November, I think I'm going to regret buying the house and not being totally liquid to get out of the country. On the other hand, I'm pushing 70 and not looking forward to life alone abroad.

Sigh. What a fu*king mess.

I didn't predict the pandemic, but I have always said one was inevitable sooner or later. I didn't think it would be THIS soon,

... helped to start the "illegal" investigations into Trump/Russia connections and the Bob Mueller/FBI
"illegal" investigations too.

I heard this this AM on Fox News as I was channel surfing up from MSNBC to the weather channel.

BTW the Clinton Foundation stopped something like 10 to 14 million HIV positive people from getting
full blown AIDs. We couldn't use that skill set now could we?

This is madness. New Zealand* now has zero people in the hospital because of C-19,
a total of 1 cases nationwide, and a total of 21 deaths. My county (Franklin, OH) alone
has 6,000 cases and it is closing in on 300 deaths.

* New Zealand did this through nationwide testing and tracing. They used the W.H.O.'s
test kits the same one that Trump refused to use here so he could sell his own kit.

I eventually talked myself down a bit after political resistance to Trump developed, and the hope that might keep him in check.

Then the Mueller investigation, then the mid-terms, then Impeachment, then the 2020 presidential race. All offered me the hope that somehow we'd find a way out of this mess.

But the past three months have shot me back to that horrible place where I was on the morning of November 9, 2016.
