1. He joined in Trump's political stunt, gassing and shooting peaceful protesters to clear the way

while dressed in battle fatigues.

If he had a lick of honor he'd resign immediately for disgracing his office for participating in that shameful political stunt

3. So what does he mean by 'uphold the values of the nation"?

If he means, "We will not be used to stamp down protests in American cities," okay, but why then did he wear a battle uniform as he accompanied Trump on his photo op after protesters were violently dispersed?

I assume what's happened is he and Esper talked and realized how very bad that photo op looked, and how bad it looked that they were trailing obediently along. And maybe they even realized that Trump's fascist tendencies were leading them inevitably to having to use the military to quell dissent. And they had a dim impression that this maybe wouldn't look so good, tanks in the street, young soldiers shooting young citizens....

Then again, maybe he's reminding his generals that he expects them to follow Trump's orders.

5. The "battle uniform" you refer to

Is his daily work clothes. It's akin the complaining about a doctor wearing scrubs.

I see several references to the oath to follow the Constitution, nothing about Trump's orders.

If you understand the military mindset and traditions of not openly questioning policy, this is a huge rebuke to the threat of using the Insurrection Act

6. I'm glad if it's a rebuke -- someone was probably authorized to leak this.

But the Army Chief of Staff does not usually go to the White House in his fatigues, does he?
As for doctors-- the Surgeon General doesn't go to the White House wearing scrubs either. If he would enter the White House in scrubs, we'd assume he was going to have to perform emergency surgery or something. (A trumpectomy?)

8. There are several uniform classes for the military

He would wear a dress uniform when going to the President or Congres out of respect and there will likely be cameras taking formal photos.

The service uniform, green shirt and trousers, would be for other meetings such as SecDef or other Pentagon officials.

If such things are not on his schedule or he is planning to work in an operation center for the day he would wear the camo uniform. He may be called to meet with other officials or even the President. It is understood he will come as is to be available to immediately return to his work and not dressed down as a sign of disrespect.

4. Milley was not "in the photo op"

Milley was at the White House on Monday in his battle fatigues and walked over to St. John's church with President Trump's entourage but did not participate in the actual photo-op that occurred.

We all saw him trying to ease himself away so he wouldn't be in the photo.

We didn't see him say, "Trump, this is a stupid fascist idea."

And to have it "leak" to the public is on par, or even greater significance, with Capt Crozier's email.
