I have a friend that works for the Salvation Army. He's also a RW'r. What effect would a r/r budget have on the SA? I have been trying to find info related to the SA and gov funding, but my cellphone can only do so much. Thanks in advance.

(29,098 posts)Usually the way these non profits work is that they apply for funding through their state or county for services the govt wants to fund. Generally it is the state that contracts with the Federal govt for funding not the local agencies. So while the local SA chapter may get money funneled down from Headquarters....The headquarters will be dealing with any kind of direct federal funding if any. I would imagine at least there will be a whole lot more bell ringing as under the Ryan budget they will need to serve more citizens and folks in the community will have less spare change to put in their kettles. Also states will have far less funding for human services in general as the feds cut back. The states will no longer be able to rely on Medicare/medicaid funding to pay for health/mental health/long term care services

The SA he works at is in west MI, I live in LA now so communication is usually over fb posts, which does so much for relations in election years. Just shocked to see so many friends liking the dolts. Seems educated, but apparently not curious.
