from a couple hundred to almost 1000 last night... very peaceful and powerful.
I neede tonight to re-coup my old bones, but will go back tomorrow. My teen and her friends are my little activists and they have inspired me (never went to a protest before last night, see my post if you like)

everyine there also wearing masks and very respectful of our personal space. but still caring for one another. One young (college age?) kid saw me struggling to get up off the ground after we had a moment of prayer and lifted me up...another came and hugged me (faces outward) when she heard me sobbing...

... commentators have been mentioning both the increase in crowd size, and the peacefulness of the protests.

That's a great sign. I'm sure many people who feared looters/agitators will now be less reluctant to join in.

The GOP's first line of defense was to portray the protestors as 'angry black folk'. But people watching the coverage on TV can see for themselves that that's NOT the case.

I'm sure Donnie Dotard is shitting bricks.

Increases in size and peaceful.

The rabble rousers and right wing agitators are now so vastly outnumbered they dare not show up to try to instigate anything because they’ll be immediately thwarted by the crowds.

Peaceful and with hundreds in attendance including some republican politicians, something has changed.

Lake County is the home of the Groveland 4. One of the last lynchings by an actual Sheriff in the US. Look it up.

Turning a protest into a juggernaut. A movement. A revolution.
He hasn't learned a damn thing from every tyrant who ever preceded him.
Fast forward. It doesn't end well for the tyrant.

The mayor, city council, and legislative seats within the city are held by Dems or non-partisan progressives. The rest of the state is a different story.

It was a public lands rally. 4,000ish? It was also a pretty good mix of both sides of the aisle trying to keep public lands public.

Then-Rep. Raul Labrador was spearheading an effort to transfer ownership of lands he termed as "Owned by the Feds", which is code for "Public lands to be sold-off to private interests". It never got traction, as hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts joined forces with the environmental community.

I hope Raul has slithered off someplace, but he's probably laying low in some dark place...waiting. I briefly changed party affiliation to republican so I could vote against him in the closed repub primary for governor. Glad he lost.

Less urban

We're having them here in San Antonio. Haven't been able to attend cuz I can't wear a mask in the heat. We're also in the middle of the Texas Democratic Convention. They've had to close the Alamo and we have curfews. (Mostly preventative) We have had some vandalism, but otherwise it's peaceful.
Since I'm busy with the state convention, I haven't been following the protests, except for newsclips. (I don't do well in the heat and don't do masks in heat)

Now we're also protesting free speech, since Trump tear gassed a group for no reason.

(So we're also protesting about protesting)
