The religious right in this country has declared WAR on Muslims worldwide

It's a common refrain that you hear from those on the religious right in this country: Islam is the enemy. They continually look for ways to smear Islam, they've been engaged in a non-stop propaganda war for at least the past 20-something years (coinciding with the rise of Right-Wing hate radio hosts like Limbaugh). They make up lies when the facts don't suit their needs.

It goes beyond just talk. They support hardline politicians in Israel, and adamantly oppose any semblance of statehood for Palestine. They support Jewish settlers encroaching on Palestinian land. They squeal in glee whenever Israeli tanks and rockets rain down destruction upon Palestinian settlements.

They have created this boogeyman, turning a nebulous organization such as Al Qaeda into a major threat akin to Nazi Germany. Through a series of wars and military strikes, they have managed to kill hundreds of thousands - if not millions - of Muslims around the world.

And we wonder why there are such harsh feelings towards us around the Middle East.

The least I can say about McCain is at least he served his country honorably. Granted he doesn't have all his marbles anymore.

They don't realize they are the same. Wanting to control women's rights, not liking anyone different, wanting religion to be the law. They are the American Taliban.

It's the policy of the U.S government.
It doesn't matter which party is in charge.

We meddle in other peoples affairs.

The scandal shouldn't be that they were nude. Get it right! This was a baptism. (Maybe it takes better if one's nude.)

John Hagee is one of the pastors who has captured the right wing wackos. He adheres to a theology called Dispensationalism. He is one of those 'Israel has to be strong so that we can bring on the end times' people. The Jews are the chosen people but Christians inherit God's blessings because we are living in a new dispensation. (Don't you love the rhetoric?)

This Republican party is steeped in this end-times shit. And we somehow have to expose it. How we could even approach this strategy I have no idea.

I suspect, and fear, that things will have to get a lot worse before the case could be made without being ridiculed. By then, it may be too late.

I worry more about this than climate change. And climate change is scaring the shit out of me.
