http://www.christianmingle.com/Commercials for Christian Mingle always give me a laugh -- "find God's match for you." If you really think God will hook you up with your soul mate, why would he require you to pay $25 per month to an online dating site? I'm sure he could come up with a better plan. Of course, you are limited to man seeking woman or woman seeking man.
I wish I didn't have any morals or scruples. I would be sooooo rich.

(73,630 posts)J-Date doesn't tout itself to be some instrument of divine intervention. It's just a site where Jewish singles can find other Jewish singles online. Some have been shown to find the loves of their lives and they get married.
Pretty straight forward.
But you're quite correct, Christian Mingle is throwing all of this God-talk out there. They're appealing to cultists.
What is there was another Christian singles site, would they get an endorsement from God too?
It's all about the money for these people, that's what religion is all about.

(2,286 posts)But, they seem to be saying that their service is somehow an instrument of God. I don't see why most Christians find the marketing of their faith highly offensive.
If they had head to toe gear trumpeting their faith, they would be seen as devout believers. If I wore stuff announcing my nonbelief, I would be viewed as aggressive and confrontational. Go figure.

Still, with scientific explanations set aside for the moment, the universe seems to be inherently funny and cruel and that serves as a personal interpretation for this century's headline:

I'll post it again: If any man comes before you claiming to know the Mind and Intent of G'd, keep your hand firmly on your wallet and walk away quickly. That dude is either a liar, a crook, or a nutjob. In any case, you don't need to be mixed up with it.

(5,032 posts)None of the purity pledge people have an answer for "What if i don't meet the mate God intended for me until i'm 57? What then?"
And now it is 10-15 years later after the purity pledge, and a lot of Christian singles are getting desperate they make wonderful marks and you can always blame the customer on a dating site.

(10,624 posts)I don't know anything about this service, but I don't see a problem with people wanting to seek out potential dating partners with a similar religious background. Personally, I'd rather fish out of the whole ocean rather than limit myself to a small estuary, but I can see how some Christians would find such a service useful.

For example, this is an endorsement that appears on their homepage:
As a follower of Jesus where do you find that right person, that one who is Gods will for your life? In the past as a Senior Pastor I have said, Find him or her in church. I still believe that but my definition of Church has expanded beyond four walls as I have become a friend and fan of Christian Mingle. Gods man for you ladies or Gods woman for you men may be in a church a thousand miles away; in the next city, or even in the same town. How do you find them? You log onto Christian Mingle.com and allow God to use this process to help you discover the person He has for you. Give God an opportunity to work through Christian Mingle.
