Do you think "the help" leaked the video to James Carter IV?

We keep hearing that Carter released the video but that is misleading. He didn't attend the fundraiser and has kept the name of the video leaker secret, as this was a closed door, no media event.

So I am wondering if maybe a waiter or caterer, angry at hearing all of these terrible things being said about working people at the dinner, maybe was recording the event on a cell phone and then leaked the video to Carter anonymously.

7. Here's what he said on Matthews' show:
Tue Sep 18, 2012, 08:35 PM
Sep 2012

He said he was researching videos on Youtube as part of his job when he saw the portion of the video that had been put up, apparently by the person who recorded it, about the Chinese factory. He got to wondering what was on the rest of that tape and he tracked down the person who was involved with the caterer (he was coy about exactly who, I think rightly) and convinced them to give him the rest of the tape.

He also indicated he wasn't at all thrilled with what Mitt had been saying about his Grandfather...

Payback's a bitch, eh Mitt?

Other servers moved out from in front of the camera several times during the filming and it also appeared that someone was standing right behind it during most of the filming. From what I've gathered online, they posted a few excerpts of it on youtube back just after they took the video and JCIV saw this, tracked the user down while doing "online opposition research" and was able to obtain the whole thing.

Romney's comments about China got little media coverage.

But somehow Carter was able to find the person who had the whole video with some even more juicy stuff, and this was an exclusive event. So who made this video?

This is an event at a private house, which means a catering company that probably does this sort of thing regularly. Hence, the staff are not cheap labor; they're reliable, and used to hearing these sorts of remarks. Add to that, it would have been difficult to get annoyed by something you heard and THEN activate and position a camera. I don't see how this could be anyone other than a guest (who was possibly told not to record anything -- I've been told that as well -- but decided they wanted a "souvenir", and for $50K, they damn well had a right to one).

I don't think whomever did it will be quick to volunteer the information since recording a person in a private setting without their permission is a felony in Florida.

We catered to everyone and everything. From the Republican and Democratic Parties to the
Black Actors Awards to the Shriners to wedding receptions for the wealthiest people. The caterers had their own lavish venue with adjustable walls to be removed or put in place for the largest gatherings to the smallest. We also went to other venues and to private homes. We were never sworn to secrecy. Not once. And we saw and heard plenty. As a "1%er" I doubt you know much about the "help" other than there's there to serve you.

but it's also not out of the realm that a Republican, all of whom are not overwhelmingly pleased with the RMoney pick, could have done it too.

I don't think brooklynite is implying that "the help" isn't smart enough or motivated enough to pull this off, he/she is just giving another possible theory of how this could have happened.

The served treat the servers like furniture, as though they have no ears or eyes. As I said in another thread just now (and imo it bears repeating):

In my imagination the cell phone camera is tucked inside a waiter's jacket...

... a nice brown waiter in a crisp white jacket and black pants, silently serving soup and pouring champagne until he goes to stand in a shadowy corner where he can film unobserved the most self-absorbed assholes to grace the planet since the Russian nobility were overthrown....

Thank you, sir, and may your privacy be protected! I know you need that job.
