Is the Mormon Church proud of its famous Bishop Romney?

Bishop Romney has done a lot of horrors:
Dissing the downtrodden.
Worshiping his millions that are stashed overseas.
Does not worry about the poor.
Trying to lower taxes for the rich and hike taxes on the poor to make up the difference.

I'm sure there's more but what does the Prophet of the Mormon Church say? After all he has a direct line to the Mormon god. I haven't heard a peep yet.

his church to make sure he gets into heaven. Tithing. I bet his so-called philanthropy is 100% to the Mormon church. That's a valid charitable deduction, for sure. But not what most people think of when they think of philanthropy.

His tithing goes to build huge tabernacles, funding Mormon missions overseas to convert people, etc.

I really don't care what religion people follow as long as they keep it to themselves. I cannot, however, forgive whoever in the Mormon flock baptized my dead Grandpa. That isn't right. Leave dead people alone. They cannot defend themselves against your religion.

Er, sorry... the Prophet-President of the "Community of Christ", Stephen M. Veazey (I think. I tried looking it up, but I'm thoroughly confused by Mormon leadership terms)

No kidding.

I was just talking with one of my friends, who is liberal, a Democrat, and LDS. He hates Romney, his policies and that he represents Mormonism to many.

Every religion is full of assholes; Mormonism isn't immune. Any group that includes humans will find itself full of assholes.

Many groups of humans make it through life without organizing and spending millions to prevent others from having basic human rights.
I tell you this. That relgioin has sent people to my door for many years, begging to speak to me about their faith. Then they put this Mitt guy up there, and if you ask him or any of them about that faith they begged to discusss, they say 'it's not fair to bring up religion'. Well excuse me, they come and knock unasked dozens of times, then when there is reason to speak with them, they claim they don't talk about the faith? That is duplicity of the first division. Rude, disrespectful behavior.

Trust me, I have no love for any religious hierarchy, and the LDS and the RCC are among my least loved. That said, I know many of their members abhor much of their churchs' political activities. Why they remain affiliated with these organizations - habit? tradition? entropy? - is another discussion for another time and place, but while I've got the torches and pitchforks at the ready for the leadership of these groups, I'm not willing to tar and feather every lay member.

And yes, many prominent Mormons were involved in Proposition 8, and yes, this historically hasn't always been true.
