When people found out that he ignored the warnings that we were going to be attacked and stood on the rubble of the WTC, then attacked a country that had nothing to do with it, a lot of people finally figured out that we had an idiot running the country.
We were stuck with the guy, which creates a lot of problems all of their own. He's an incumbent, which earned him a lot of votes for his reelection, a lot of people are loath to switch boats in the middle of the stream. Then he was a wartime president: We have to stand behind the Commander-In-Chief during wartime. People were willing to disbelieve their own eyes and ears: No, he couldn't be as stupid as they would otherwise think that he'd be, after all, he's the President of the United States.
But the most important fact was that hardly anyone actually knew what we all were getting into with George W. Bush BEFORE the fact.
But with Mitt Romney, we hear from his own lips to his country club set friends, his peeps, his cohorts, partners in crime, fellow running dogs of the ruling class and otherwise, that if he was ever sent to the White House, he wouldn't do a damn thing.
Nothing. He would just sit there in the Oval Office with that stupid smirk on his face and make life more miserable, for most people, EVERYWHERE.
He has pretty much admitted that he doesn't know ANYTHING. He has no idea how most people live, or what motivates them. He has this idea that the poor and minorities are living high off the hog, that Iranians are shaping their plans to attack the US from episodes of the TV show, 24 and that Obama voters are just jealous of him and his riches.
There's really nothing defensible about the guy's positions. Besides, he changes them all anyway. He stands for nothing at all, except HIMSELF.
If anyone, at this point in time, cannot figure out WHAT Mitt Romney is all about AND they're planning to fill out a ballot for either candidate anyway, they are being negligent in their duty as a citizen
Pure and simple.
America needs to buy a clue while it can still afford it.

(10,073 posts)Her book, Shrub, published well before the election, told us what to expect. Anyone paying attention to the debates - especially the VP one - got a glimpse of the real Bush and Cheney, especially when the latter started talking about nation building.
How long did it take after he was sworn in? When was the China/spy plane debacle?

(89,182 posts)and that happened in his 2nd term.
before that there were questions but foreing policy stuff is complicated for people and they were easily fooled and of course the whole fear thing they used.
but when katrina hit that's when people really saw what horrible president he was. it wasn't a case of someone attacking us or even not being warned . it was in our own country. what people saw was not what you would see in a country as wealthy as ours. but it was like we were some poor nation that couldn't provide for our own people.
i'm thinking Romney is worse than Bush because Bush was incompetent with cheney running things. i don't think his intentions were to kill and hurt people. he was really a dumb ass who thought the mess he made in iraq would result in freedom for everyone.

(14,177 posts)I really don't know what my clues were. I didn't dislike him though. But, I had this joke of him having problems with words that start with the letter E: the environment, education, and the economy. I just figured he would have trouble with the economy, don't know why, he just seemed dumb enough to try trickle down economics or as I call it trickled on economics, or don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining (thanks Judge Judy).
Any who compared to Twit Romney, he doesn't seem so bad (candidate Bush, not how he was as President). Bush, seems like a likable doofus. Romney seems like a poorly programmed robot. I really don't know how Bush got a second term though.

(90,225 posts)...I can't believe if people knew Bush was really that damn stupid people would vote for him.
If people don't know how amoral rMoney is then it's the DNC and Obama's fault...
This is the FIRST election were I've felt the other guy would REALLY do damage to the country

In the video, he tells potential donors that the stock market is going to rocket higher once it realizes he's going to win the election. From Mother Jones' transcript of the video :
They'll probably be looking at what the polls are saying. If it looks like I'm going to win, the markets will be happy. If it looks like the president's going to win, the markets should not be terribly happy.

(20,776 posts)That month that Bush became President, was that incident where an American US Navy Submarine was "showing off" to some Republican Senators (friends of the President) off the coast of Hawaii. The Sub then breached and accidentally sank a vessel carrying Japanese Tourists. Bush refused to apologize to Japan, but the skipper of the Sub eventually went to Japan and apologized as he felt guilty for what happened aboard his vessel.
