Facebook Censoring NY Times on the Papyrus Fragment referring to Jesus's Wife

I've heard from 5 different people today who found that Facebook had summarily deleted the New York Times article regarding the recently discovered Coptic papyrus fragment that mentioned Jesus's wife. Not only had the posts disappeared without explanation, but all the accompanying often interesting or scholarly discussion as well as all of the notification history had also been wiped clean. This is the article. Go ahead, try to post it.

Any attempt to repost elicits a block from Facebook with the reply: "The content you're trying to share includes a link that's been blocked for being spammy or unsafe." The New York Times is now deemed by Facebook to be spam or unsafe??? Or has a group of zealots fearful in their faith taken to mass-flagging Facebook posts thereby triggering an auto-censorship of anything they deem a challenge?

did not. I got the 'spam' message. I'm thinking it's some kind of issue between FB and NYT??

Maybe the NY Times have asked that their news be blocked, or maybe it has to go through one of their annoying apps that shows everyone what you've read, or something.

Just tested it. It is only this specific article. I suspect a mass-flagging by some Talibanish Christianists. And of course FB doesn't have anything in place to say 'this is freakin' NY Times maybe it isn't spam' and they just auto-censor.

Yeah I can't imagine them choosing to do that on their own if they were willing to print the story, but I can see how mass flagging as spam by idiots who think not reading something makes it not true could affect it.

A friend of mine posted that article yesterday, and I commented on it.
Sure enough, it's gone.
Even the "notification" that I got that someone else had commented on it is gone.

Fuck you, Facebook!!!

The complaints and exposure must have had an effect. Facebook has now unblocked the link and returned the original post and comments to my page. I hope the others who were censored have had the same results!

amongst the talibabdists. That seems funny enough to me because if Jesus was supposed to be a righteous, observant Jew, wouldn't he have married?

There's no deciphering fundy pretzel "logic". Crazy is as crazy does and talibabdists are just plain nucking futz.
