Former Thaddeus McCotter staffer pleads no contest in phony signatures case
DETROIT Lorianne OBrady, a former scheduler for former U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, has pleaded no contest to charges of falsely signing a nominating petition as a circulator, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette announced Tuesday afternoon.
OBrady, 52, pleaded no contest Tuesday in Wayne Countys 16th District Court before Judge Kathleen J. McCann to five counts of falsely signing a nominating petition as circulator, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail.
Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 25.
OBrady is one of four McCotter staffers charged in connection with submitting invalid nominating petitions and signatures that kept the Livonia Republican of the Aug. 7 primary ballot for re-election.
The five-term congressman, who represented a section of north Dearborn Heights, quit his House seat after opting against running a write-in campaign for the GOP nomination for the seat he held for nearly a decade.
