contact Whirlpool and boycott the ever-loving-shit out of them?
Did this company not show us a reflection of their values?
Just asking for the next corporation that decides to host a Donnie Shit for Brains shitshow.

(15,297 posts)I can always count on you to weigh in everytime I propose holding media or corporations accountable for their actions. I greatly appreciate it.
I've sent my thoughts to Whirlpool via their "contact us" link on their website.
Please feel free to do the same.

(5,219 posts)Just because some corporation had it's arm twisted to host the Orange One for an hour? Whirlpool is one of the very few, if not the only one, manufacturing appliances here in the United States. They provide Americans with jobs and contribute to the rust belt economy. Pick your battles.

(26,721 posts)Reportedly... the event was celebrating 1800 jobs coming back from China. 200 of them there at Whirlpool.
I can see Dems and progressives being unwilling to change their opinion of Trump because of it... but I cant see many of them actively trying to get rid of those jobs with so many unemployed already.
Our energies are better spent elsewhere

(15,297 posts)If a corporation hosts the Imperial Grand Wizard of the KKK, do I first have to find out how many jobs the corporation supports?
Do I have to ask; "what's the difference between the Grand Wizard of the KKK and Donnie Dipshit"? Is it that one wears a ridiculous headcovering, and the other wears a hood.
Folks can believe this or not, but I truly believe that I have ethics, morals, standards and values. If I owned a company, and the president came to my shop and started talking about how Democrats want to kill Jesus, I'd immediately cut off his mike and kill the power.
I truly believe that I would do that and accept whatever consequences, because I stood up to multiple Flag Officers and other senior officers during my nearly 30 year Navy career.
I would also expect the public to hold me and my company accountable.
If the standard is that you can host hatefilled, racist assclowns based on the number of jobs you support, we're in a world of amphibian shit.
I also can't understand or believe that Whirlpool was "Hoodwinked". If that's the case, they need to fire everyone in their PR department.
If you were told by the White House that this was going to be a non-political speech and believed it, you're either ignorant, or complicit.
All your PR team needed to do was read a few tweets, watch a couple of videos, or OPEN YOUR DAMN EYES!
In fact, I would find it acceptable if Whirlpool were to come out immediately and apologize, explain that the White House lied to them about the visit, and make it pellucidly clear that they DENOUNCE the Dipshits remarks, and that those remarks are NOT REFLECTIVE of their company's values.
Until Whirlpool does that, they will get none of my business.

(2,248 posts)I found out yesterday in a different post that the owners of Home Depot were one of the largest donors to the RNC efforts to fight voters in lawsuits supporting voter suppression.
So, I am telling all of my friends and will never buy from them again.
Over the last ten years I have spent well over $25000 at HD between renovating my house, fixing up my mom's house when she died so that we can sell it, various appliances, etc. That ends now for us.
The other companies were mostly banks plus the WWE.
I knew he (HD owner) donated to Trump but has also donated to Democrats (the typical uberrich who wants to own politicians on both sides). But paying for the voter suppression lawsuits was beyond the pale for me.
I always wonder for these photo op stunts if there is a threat -- "it would be a shame if we issued an executive order to end your contract". But for me donating is worse --

(38,303 posts)I bought a new car once, in the 'eighties when I was young and foolish. I won't do that again.
I don't use Apple or Microsoft products.
My desktop computers are recovered from the e-waste bins, my Chromebook and eBook were bought "refurbished."
I don't have cable, satellite, or broadcast television. The television in our house plays Netflix and DVDs. We haven't yet run out of things to watch.
Our old dishwasher is not likely to die anytime soon because I can still get parts for it. (My wife's parents bought it for us a long time ago, when we had a house full of children.)
I don't eat pork products or canned tuna. I don't eat much meat at all really. My wife doesn't eat any meat, even when we are visiting the carnivores in our family. We haven't visited family since March. This corona virus sucks. At this point I'd happily eat some animal a relative had killed and cooked on the BBQ.
There's an endless number of ways to prepare rice and beans.
My flip phone is like a Star Trek communicator. Why would I want anything else?
Most of my "disposable" income is spent on fancier foods, drink, and art.
My wife and I are sending the money we used to spend on travel, movies, theater, eating out, etc., to our local food bank.
