but, as a white woman I had never seen any different.

For all the negative aspects of social media, it allows people to shine a light on the ugliness of our society.

Every time a video comes out of police committing brutality, and there's more than one cop on the scene, we see that none of them take any action to protect the victims. Sometimes they stand by and watch while other cops beat the hell out of someone. Most often they actively join in the fun themselves. What we don't ever see is cops pulling their colleagues off the people they're pounding. That is what a good cop would do.

The same is true when the police commit other crimes, like falsifying arrest reports. When this happens, all the cops involved generally conspire to tell the same lies.

or a "suspect" who's shit needs to be beaten out of them, there NEVER seems to be a shortage of cops, right?

Also, notice how in the protest situations, when a cop or two or 3 starts to wailing on someone, there are always a few others PROTECTING those guys from bystanders? They turn their backs to the asskicking and face the crowd, to protect the asskickers and their asskicking.

Cops lie as well. Repeatedly. And with gusto! They have to be just about the most untruthful witnesses ever to take the stand, yet juries and judges tend to believe them. It is a fair bet that any police report in which some violence occurred between arrestee and cop, said report will be utterly fabricated, often to make the cop look like the victim.

THERE ARE NO GOOD COPS.

If there were, there would be no bad ones. The truly good and decent humans that become LEO's are run out of the profession in rather short order.

They are a club; an armed gang that gets to make their own rules and they are allowed to investigate themselves when they are accused of wrongdoing. And they like it that way and they DO NOT WANT TO ALLOW CHANGE.

Fuck the fucking police in the United States. They are corrupt to the core and their organizations promote that corruption.

The entire "Criminal Justice" and "Law Enforcement" system needs to be flushed and rebuilt from the ground up.

“Cops are very equipped to be the hammer and enforce the law,” says Arthur Rizer, a former police officer and 21-year veteran of the US Army who heads the criminal justice program at the center-right R Street Institute. “They know how to use those tools forcefully and effectively; for everything else, they are lacking. Of course that’s going to end badly. What excites police is action, and that means ultimately applying violence,” says Rizer. “The people attracted to police work want that type of action — they are giddy about it. The people who don’t want that type of action either never make it in the first place or are ridiculed for it if they do.”

Police are indoctrinated into an institutional culture and system. The institution of police is ‘bad’, it is the rare cop that can transcend that.

there was an exBIL cop as well. The whole lot of 'em were seemingly cookie cutter clones as far as their attitude of superiority toward regular people who were mostly categorized as "subhuman".

They were bullies, knuckle dragging Neanderthals, who demanded respect and submission and reenforced their behavior through intimidation, threats and fear. Everyone was considered guilty before they even asked a question. I had the overall impression that they actually wanted to provoke the least little resistance which would give them an opening to beat the shit out of someone even if they were innocent but just terrified of the crazy cops.

There were no good cops in my acquaintance. Even the few who were less aggressive than the majority still turned a blind eye to what was routinely happening all around them so they were all guilty just the same.
