Sally is making land fall in Gulfshores, Alabama as a Cat 2 with horrendous rain

Meanwhile as the rain is pelting down in Pensacola, Florida there is no water in pipes as mains have broken. We're looking at about 14 hours of rain for the worst areas.

Stay safe folks!

and it would appear that Sally is acting like a large water pump... and is transferring about a trillion gallons of water onto the southern Alabama and the panhandle of Florida

That is if 30 inches in a fairly small region and less in a much larger region.

That's a lot of fresh water... takes a lot of energy from the ocean to make that much fresh water from salt water.

Wish we had a way to send it to the west coast... like 1/4 to 1 inch for all of California, Oregon, and Washington.

on maybe 6 days from now to near the end of the month.

Not looking around for my umbrella.

maybe to the north around Shasta and Oregon. That would be great.

But I've also heard that the rain may dry up some, but lightning strikes are possible.

Much of the problem here in the Bay Area was due to a very rare lightning storm like 3 or 4 weeks ago. I remember being awakened by the flashes and distant thunder. You just don't hear thunder here this close to the coast. Not very often.
