Texas school employee shoots self at training class to arm teachers

You really can’t make this stuff up. A school maintenance worker in – wait for it – Texas was attending a concealed-carry class at the local school.

The school district was sponsoring the class as part of its program to arm teachers and other school employees, in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre and the NRA’s call for America to arm its schools.

What could possibly go wrong?

You can guess what happened next.

The maintenance worker shot himself in the leg and had to get...

report bad behavior (you can't do that without tenure), get a pension, get a decent salary, take the summer off, then, why, in hell, do you suddenly think you want to hand a loaded gun to a totally unempowered baby sitter who's been tormented by crazy students and parents for 20 or thirty years?

Either we're total morons, who have to have every decision made for us, and cannot hold any responsibility for curriculum or grades or placements,

or,

you think we're so powerful, steady, professional and level-headed that we should be running around with loaded guns.

You can't treat us like children one minute and then like the sheriff the next.

If teachers are fools and morons, DON'T give us loaded guns, and then lock us away all day to babysit your kids.

If I'm so damn dependable and trustworthy that I should be packing in the lunchroom or the library, then treat me like a professional, get out of my damn way, and let me teach your kids to be the best they can be.

They want to remove teachers because some teachers are supposedly "failing students" but when guns are killing students they want to bring in more of them.

Teaching: The only profession where the blue collar workers need a college education and preferably a Masters degree.

10. The master's are required, along with unbelievable new B.S. to drown us in "evaluations."

Now that our existance is tied to test scores, a gillion or so teachers are going to be fired, because of poor test scores.

And then their replacements will be fired, because of lower test scores,

and their replacements will be fired

because of abysmal test scores, caused by the constant revolving door of new teachers year in year out.

Now, when it becomes obvious that no one can keep a job that requires 6 years and $300,000 worth of education, you'll see the next teacher shortage, and all this crap will get peeled away, just to get a warm body in the front of the room.

It's all total B.S.

North Dakota, in the smaller towns, for one.
You are correct about the B.S. I have been in the front of the classroom. I had federal forms to fill out each year. One question was, "How many of your students are pregnant?" One year, I had to put down a 'one'. An 'A' student, with plans to go to medical school, no less. That kinda put a crimp in her plans. The last time I saw her, she was pushing a stroller and she did not look happy. This was in the mid 90's.

This would be a good reason not to try these games. At the gin shows recently there was several shot by guns they probably thought was not loaded. It is crazy.
