was looking at one of the photos of the interior and had to laugh. There was a kitchen stool - from the day - bolted to the floor. This was where either the gunner sat or someone who fed the bullets for the machine gun. I know they were in a hurry to get the B-17 up there so they probably used what was available at the time.

My father was an engineer on that plane. He probably thought of using the kitchen stool!

This is the plane that played the Memphis Belle in the 1990 Hollywood version of that iconic plane's history, one of the first B-17 to complete 25 missions, earning a return to the USA for her crew.

I have actually been on this plane, when it visited Wichita, KS (airplane capital). I worked at Boeing Military Airplane Company and relocated there in 1980 for some 17 years. Regretfully, they wanted a lot of money to just walk through it, and a whole lotta money to actually ride in it. I paid to walk through and wished I had enough to ride.

A very impressive machine.
