omigod! "they" actually WENT there!
byedrie

kron4 news (san francisco) tonite announced when president obama signed the sequester into existence... then they actually discussed what was going on - and ... to my shock and amazement, after some decent explanation, the anchor stated that neither the president or congress was going to change this until the people started to react.

THEN... (are you ready) the anchor stated this was an attempt by the republicans to get rid of all the programs of the new deal that they had hated - the safety net, social services, etc.!

that help people have no idea what this country would look like without it. I hear them bitch about one "bum" hanging out around a shopping center. They had better watch what they wish for.

Think of the country without any safety nets. How do you protect yourself from all the crime that would be a necessity for some people to feed their families. Are you willing to see hundreds of people sleeping on the streets where you walk to get to work? Do you want that many desparate people panhandling at every corner? Are you ready to walk past starving children in the streets?

I do not want to live in that country.

of us who predicted that this was just a ploy to attack the Social Safety and that no Democrat should participate in it, we were told 'he was just playing chess' that the 'Republicans will never let this happen'.

So sick of the outrage AFTER the fact, every. single. time. Too late now, isn't it? The outrage we tried to express was dismissed.

Maybe now we can start demonstrating the appropriate outrage the MINUTE THEY START talking about things like, eg 'The Chained CPI'??? Maybe we could stop the excuses and react as we should without accepting ANY excuse for these actions for once. And maybe we would find out that when the people refuse to be placated we actually COULD stop them??

I hope no one dares to tell me any stories about 'strategy' and 'chess' the next time I express MY outrage over the next scam that is coming our way. This whole thing was a scam from the beginning, and if Democrats didn't see it, they do not deserve to be in office. If they did and went along with it anyhow, they do not deserve to be in office or to call themselves Democrats.

As if this is any surprise to anyone with a brain cell functioning. It's not.

Our corporatist government demonstrated such impertinence aimed at the masters of the known world will not be tolerated whereas a multitude of domestic right-wing extremists go about brandishing their assault weapons and stochastic terrorists of their ilk spew hatred, sedition, and rebellion occasionally prodding some faithful true-believing nut to act out his hatred. Sat Mar 2, 2013, 03:36 AM
Mar 2013

And who wants their head broken? Or their spirit? Or reputation?
No good options is right.
Breaking people is the method by which we are domesticated. Those who can't be broken are problematic so we marginalize or imprison them. And those, who become too docile too subservient, have lost the spark that makes one human. So, to survive, we have to do both, stand up and shout and sit down and shut up. Our heads get broken either way.
The world is what we make it. Ideas shared by many have great impact while ideas kept to ourselves have no chance of shaping things.

Hello! Hello!

And some of us have been cursed and reviled and accused of goddess only knows what, we're trolls and concern trolls and secret republicans and haters and, oh, honey, the list goes on and on and on.

It's like the Pied Piper, only this one was already paid his guilders long before he charmed all the rats. That was just for show, anyway; the rats were in on it from the beginning. What he and his masters really wanted all along were the children, the future, the hopes and dreams and aspirations, the blood, sweat, and soul of what someone once dreamed "America" could be.

I find that the left and progressives are definitely not republican and or conservative but they certainly are at the least Dem but more than that they are, to put it simply followers of FDR. I hate corporations ...I hate their disgusting immoral sociopath CEO's. They are animals without a conscience for their fellow human being. Their greedy ways and controls are so thoroughly entrenched that no amount of voting will ever stop them now. To think that the Dems play no part in this is ignorant and blind. Thus we have those that blindly follow Obama and continually make excuses for him. They fawn over the family like American Idol fans. I have to admit though that his lies are some of the nicest ones I have heard from our government. He is an eloquent speaker and that has taken him a long long way but he is owned just like the repukes are. Next up will be the war monger and hawk ...Clinton. I wish Dems would wake the hell up and slide over to the lefty progressive side. This place used to partner with the left and progressives. We were accepted and welcome here years ago but I feel that is waning severely. We need someone who is really on our side who will fight for us and not cave to corporations. We need jobs for everyone not austerity. If we are going to go into austerity then they should have let the banksters fail ...that would have been the real free market penalty for their greedy thieving schemes. We need another FDR ...now!

I've said it once, I'll say it a million times: Liberals are ALWAYS right. Right about the need for social programs, right about wars and the nefarious reasons behind them, right about domestic spying (wiretapping AND using Drones), right about the police state in general, right about the schemes the rich are attempting to pull to destroy us all and right in calling out Obama's complicity in such.

The Third Way/DLC/New Democrat/Centrists are always wrong. They're Republicans pretending to be Democrats. And they have overloaded this board with a level of propagandizing that equals that of far right wingers.

It 's one of the reasons why the deregulation of media ownership (and subsequent consolidation and concentration of that ownership) needs to be reversed.

One nitpick, though: the anchor there is the woman. Mr. Yaki, who made the point we're discussing here, is a political analyst. The anchor refers to him as "our political analyst", so my best guess is he is a local guy with a contract with the station to be an on-air expert commentator in the field.

Look a Repub president could never change the social safety nets because it is politically impossible to do from the side that cares more about the businesses and rich than it does about ordinary citizens however, my fear is that Obama will actually be talked into privitization of the social safety net programs..... Look Healthcare reform the way it was implemented is a republicans we dream but they but on aires like they hate it because they don't want Obama to get any credit for it, I mean give me a break what Democrat would ever propose mandating under penalty of fine that a person purchase an insurance plan from an insurance company.... that has never been our party's position until it was submitted and approved by Democrats on a promise that better things like Universal healthcare coverage would be happening in the future, so you see my point is that only Obama can do the unthinkable and again my fear is that all this politics right now is just to grease us up in preparation for the big Kahuna when Medicare and Social Security are destroyed.....

The Congress will generally blow off these millions and hell will be paid in November of 2014 when a huge blue tide washes into the D of C. Oh, it's a coming, shame is many will suffer in the next two years. But maybe this "straw" will make the wheels turn as the Light is Shining and the Heat is a-coming.
