Truth in Labeling: This should be called the Iraqi War Sequester

&width=600

As has been reported by Maddow the deficit is shrinking. With a recovering economy and removing the Bush tax reduction for the top 2% this year will see an even greater reduction in the deficit.

Here is the cold hard fact that we should make the country realize, even with the unfunded actions by the Bush Administration including the unfunded tax reduction, the unfunded Afghanistan War and the unfunded pay off to pharma under Medicare expansion, and with the total tanking of the economy in the last two years of the Bush administration, we could have avoided the current confrontation and battle with the reversal of a single stupid decision; The Iraqi War.

Without that trillion dollar debt, and the compounding interest, the entire faux drama that we are now going through would not be necessary. We would have been able to pack more stimulus earlier and the recovery would have been quicker and we would now be able to see the budget balanced within a 3-4 years AND funding more Medicare for the working poor.

Label this Sequester for what it is: The bill for the Iraqi War has come due and the Republicans still don't want to pay for it with revenues, just cut more essential government services and more safety net for the poor.
