Last week, we reported that Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America joined conservative talk show host Stan Solomon to warn about President Obamas alleged plans to incite violence and bring about a race war against white Americans.
We found another interview between Pratt and Solomon from January, in which they went into even more detail about the looming race war and denounced new legislative efforts to prevent gun violence.
Pratt claimed that some kind of social implosion is inevitable during Obamas second term, and that it would be a wonderful surprise if it did not happen.
Solomon specifically claimed that under President Obama we will witness attacks on Christian, heterosexual white haves by black, Muslim and/or atheist not that theres much difference black have-nots.
He warned that if you are a white person in this country, and this holds for all quality people of any color, but Im saying specifically if you are a white, heterosexual, Christian, working, married person and dont own a gun, then there is at least a substantial chance that you and/or some member of your family will be hurt and/or killed.

(editing to add to the sigline for clarity and this additional bit:
That's the only part that's right when you look around at all the hatred coming from racists.
It's not "Coming for 'Christian, Heterosexual White Haves'"; it's more coming FROM that demographic and other racists.
It is NOT coming; it's not the president, it's the teabaggers and formerly closeted racists who are promoting it.
(hope this clears it up for those who misunderstood my reply)

(3,888 posts)doesn't get its act together and pass a budget bill.
The media spews the hatred and points the finger of blame at Obama while the Republicans in congress insure that things will get worse for working Americans, trusting that Obama will be blamed by the public.
I anticipate being told (probably by Obama himself) that working longer and getting less in retirement benefits is the price that has to be paid for congress to come to an agreement.
If that happens I won't "get over" the anger it generates.

(53,661 posts)He's still working on job programs and an increase in the minimum wage. This thing is done until next year and for several years after that. There is nothing to do but weather the pain that will be increasing. It's said that the effects will really show on the indicators by August, then more the next year if these troglogdytes are not voted out of office. The GOP has moved to take progressive voices off the radio, increase their ownership, and they have not stopped their attacks on cable at all. So it's going to come to a head, not sure what we will have to live through to get the changes done. The 2014 election is paramount if people don't want these things done to them. EOM.
iemitsu
(3,888 posts)We have to get people in office who will represent us and who will work for the common good rather than for the good of a privileged few.
And it has to be accomplished in an environment which includes: a government that wages PsyWar on its citizens, a Right-Wing owned and dishonest media, a popular anti-intellectual tradition, the Citizens United decision, an unreliable voting system (and possibly an overturned Voting Rights Act), and a population deeply divided and distrustful.
Progressive Democrats need to win in the next election but the real prize will come when Americans of all political persuasions can embrace each other, recognize and respect the uniqueness and commonalities we share, and work together to improve life on earth.
I believe most Americans share this vision (not all but most) but for many reasons are confused about how to promote achieving the goal.
Hopefully, if economic conditions are made much worse by the sequestration, Americans will blame the inflexible and recalcitrant Republicans and boot them out of office.
Frankly, this has to happen. Teabag Americans have to abandon their faith in discredited economic theory and stop clinging to the Troglodyte world order fantasy sold to them by the Koch brothers because we cannot bargain with fantasy. We live in the real world and have to make informed decisions.
And who informs us? The media owned and operated by those who will misinform us.
Shrug, I am tired and feel like I'm typing in circles.

(3,888 posts)Scary and exciting. Lots of movement on all fronts: social, economic, political, military, and religious.
We are witnessing the battle royal for 21st century control of the world's resources and of our nation. The current elites can see the writing on the wall and are desperately trying to maintain their power and grab as much of our loot as they can, before they are ultimately taken down.
If those, who currently enjoy wealth and power, manage to retain their positions we are all in for tough times. Their model has run its course and the cost of artificially keeping it alive will overwhelm us all. They know it and so do we.
The evidence that we have already rejected the status-quo is found in the behavior of the rich. The proliferation of new voter suppression laws and schemes, the on-going scandal of rigged elections, and the blatant propaganda being spewed by the media, are tools designed to keep in power those who we would vote out. Our schools are being re-segregated, through charters or privatization, because young Americans have lost much of the bigotry, prejudice, and fear that comes with separation, and our over-lords need us to be divided (actually they need white people to continue to ally themselves with the rich because they perceive that that alliance bestows privilege. They also need some non-threatening, non-whites to join their alliance because of demographic projections into the future). So school choice is invoked, and embraced, as the cure for failing schools (nearly all public schools are failing or will soon be due to the requirements of NCLB and Race to the Top) but that choice is the primary vehicle for separating the haves from the have-nots (something that is illegal to sponsor in regular public schools). A unified public terrifies those in power as do unified workers. So we are under attack.
Another indication that Americans and their government are at odds, was revealed last November when voters in Washington and Colorado made leisure pot smoking legal, yet even though this is the consensus of the people, the government continues to dump record numbers of our citizens into prison for pot violations (I should add commentary on prison labor and debt peonage).
The prosecution and characterization of Bradley Manning and our establishment's reaction to Julian Assange demonstrate how confident our leaders are about their job performance. Transparent government, of the people, by the people, for the people.
For a long time the rich have needed a Cold War, or a War on Drugs, or Bin Laden releasing periodic video-tapes to keep us from focusing our attention on the gross inequities in our society.
Economic insecurity is the crisis du jour. The Stock Market crash, the bailouts, and now austerity measures are the tools being employed to undermine any possible demands for change. Stripped of our security, our confidence, our voice, and our vote we are a far less formidable threat to those who thrive at our expense.
But things are changing. The drastic measures employed to maintain the status-quo are the best indication of that reality.
Scary and exciting times. And the battle for who will rule in the future is, for us, all uphill.
Those, who are ill-informed and fearful of change, will fight to preserve the entrenched and corrupt system that currently dictates our lives, and ultimately, when the battle is over, those, who are well-informed and who have a vision and an imagination, will have the opportunity to help rewrite the rules, by which the world is run.

(53,661 posts)They were on community radio back in the fifties, sixties and seventies. They made it clear in their rantings and call-in shows that the 'white race traitors' would be their very first targets.
They made it clear in those shows that we'd be the first ones they were going to kill. This means all liberals and Democrats. The same demonization of us, they did to the Jews. They don't even change the words, for the most part.
We're said to have all the same qualities, so we must be eliminated from the gene pool. Rush called to have us hunted with dogs. The liberal hunting permit bumper stickers, everyone has seen those.
Anyway, after the treasonous whites are gotten out of the way, they start the race war. They say they'll win because, as Pratt says, they are 'quality people.' When the federal government collapses in the chaos, which is what they are doing right now in slow motion, they will begin their fascist rule.
Anyone like Pratt who spews this is a fucking fascist and should be arrested, but we can't until blood is spilled. This is their game book, always has been. That goes for Jones, Beck and the rest of them, Koch brothers being the financiers of this.

I emailed my concerns to the principal. My daughter's school is very progressive and the principal promised to have a talk with the sub, which I have no doubt will occur.
I emphasized that I didn't want anyone to get fired over the incident but that personal politics have no business in the classroom. Maybe this sub intends to commit 'suicide by cop' so to speak? It certainly was out of character for what the class had come to expect from him.
In fact, they somewhat admired him before this. No more.
It sounds like this sub got his talking points from the good ship Larry Pratt.
