POLITICO ADS WON'T CLOSE

Is anyone else having this problem? For a couple weeks now, when I open Politico, large content-obscuring ads pop-up and the X in the upper right hand corner will not close the ads! Nothing will, in fact, so I just have to leave the site.

Thanks.

1. I do not go to that site, however, bring up task manager and see what the ad is. It is possible

Do I just look for "malware" on my programs and uninstall it? Hubby says download malware bytes. Will try that.

4. Download MalwareBytes and Ad-Aware

Between the two of them you should knock it out.

Unless you have the dreaded Stuxnet virus or another one of those destructive ones. In that case, you'll have to learn how to hack a registry to get rid of it.

3. Unless you want to be propagandized, why would you go there?

There are far more reasons not to go to that web site.

5. If you're running Firefox, you can go into the settings to block popups. Tools-Options-Content

didn't detect any malware!

I use Chrome.

I don't really like Politico, but I like to get a more objective, ie, non-lefty view of politics. Like to see what those more in the middle are saying - I spend so much of my political media time on MSNBC, DU, and even - I daresay - HuffPo.

What are some other intelligent but centrist sites I could use instead of Politico?

7. IMHO, reporting by the CSM and McClatchey Newspapers are particularly neutral and thorough.

BBC is usually an reliable source for global news, while The Nation (while liberal) has excellent, informed commentary on U.S. politics. If you want to know which 3rd World country the elites are thinking of overthrowing and looting next, try Foreign Affairs or Foreign Policy.

For eavesdropping on the opposition, the National Review or The American Conservative are interesting case studies, and generally more rational and better thought out than the Murdoch press. "Know thine enemy."

On the pop-up problem, go into your browser settings, and I think you'll be able to block those annoying pop-ups!

McClatchy is definitely my go to news "service." I think I'll bookmark the others you mention. Of course, I know the Nation, but haven't considered them neutral...however, perhaps objective = progressive!

Thanks, again!

Is it not odd that Politico is the only site I have this problem on?
