Blaming funerals on the president?

I started this thread today about a friend's family who cannot afford her mother's funeral.

The outpouring was incredible and it seems to have touched a nerve with so many posters. Some came up with lovely ideas for how to decrease the amount spent, offered links and stories of their own.

During all of this I realized that people had tweeted the link. Upon following the links I found this:

With a comment about who exactly has been president the past four years.


I don't understand what a president has to do with this death and funeral. I wouldn't have blamed Bush or any other president for this because they personally had little to do with it. If there is any large amount of blame I'd aim it at the legislature, especially my state legislature, who has cut off funding for every program they get their hands on.

It's silly and irritating to see something like this.
