I Believe The GOP Is Secretly Glad About The Cuts. They Only Wish ALL The Cuts Were

in domestic programs. And I will bet they look for a way to restore military cuts and corner the Dems to vote for it. The main focus of their latest rhetoric is how the cuts will hurt the defense budget. Little is being said about essenitally starving the middle class, children, the poor and grandm

An now Romney is coming again saying Obama won because he was generous in giving "goodies" to brown people and "takers". If the people who are hurting and vote GOP ever really woke up the GOP could be finished. The problem is will they ever wake up or just keep blaming minorities and the poor for their predicament.

I read this on PolitiFact the other day:

Norman Ornstein, a scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, says there’s a second, behind-the-scenes storyline:

"A sizable number of members of Congress want a sequester; the overwhelming majority of them are House Republicans who believe that this is the best way to get a down payment on spending cuts, and don't believe (or care) that national security might be at risk. They also are convinced that these cuts won't affect any real services, in part because they really believe that most government is wrongheaded, irrelevant or just waste and fraud. ...," Ornstein said. "Very few Democrats want a sequester; a few think it will backfire on Republicans, and so are secretly happy. But most would much prefer a deal to avoid it."

I'm not sure it's all that secret. They want these cuts. It was a bad bet (or maybe not) to think they'd find the defense cuts so onerous that they'd become reasonable on other stuff. And they truly don't think government should be doing much besides defense. Of course they want to slash everything else, and apparently the other cuts make the defense cuts acceptable for them.

Koch dream.
Only defense, and then the Kochs would start chewing at that.
Everything privatised.
Of course the GOP is happy.
If this is chess, the GOP won.
No one who can do anything about the sequester cares who gets blamed. After all, we still believe everything said in a campaign and send in our money.

Whenever they frown, which is always, they are happy. Hope Pres and DEM Congress are looking for ways to make progress without them even if temporary or emergency or obscure. Dig deep guys!

The blame for this goes 90% on their doorstep and even greater disillusionment with the GOP will result.

during the 1880's to 1900,you notice a theme that pretty much mirrors the happenings of today. Formation of a Gilded Class,Slave Labor working conditions,Money Changers of Wall and Broad Streets, and the ramped up poverty. When the Fourth Estate has been compromised in Nations, these policies of a two class society seem to emerge, much as we see today.

Living in one of the Reddest of the Red States, this is what I've noticed just yesterday, the locals are scared shittless. As the day went on yesterday, noticed a ampping up of the negative verbage towards their newly elected Congressman. Most of the folks in this little town are dependent on Social Security or Veteran Pensions. Yet they are diehard Rethugs and Racist to the core. Mostly Mormons. Going to get very interesting.

restore the defense cuts by blackmailing Obama and the Democrats. They still have the debt ceiling to use in some way as leverage. And there was another post on DU that is saying that they are preparing legislation or a budget that includes vouchers for Medicare. We all know they will never give up. They will come up with some kind of trick. If they can't get the vote and win elections they will rig or steal the vote. If they don't have the majority they will create crisis after crisis until they get their way. It never ends and will continue until there is no GOP. And GOD only knows what the tea party wants because too many Republicans are still not conservative enough for them.
