"This is why Obama can’t make a deal with Republicans"

This piece is too detailed and complex to offer a sensible 4 paragraph excerpt.

But it's good reading.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/03/02/this-is-why-obama-cant-make-a-deal-with-republicans/

Short version: Ezra Klein said it would help to educate Republicans, since Obama already largely agrees with them on things they demand from a budget deal. (Like chained-CPI, means-testing medicaire, etc..)

Jonathan Chait responded that education wouldn't help because they do not want a deal and would just move the goal-posts.

Klein reads a twitter exchange of a Republican saying there's no deal because Obama won't put chained CPI on the table. He is corrected, being informed that Obama has said it IS on the table. The Republican then shifts to a different reason.

And Klein writes article about how Chait was right... since they do not WANT a deal there is no way to reach a deal. Period.

The GOP does not want a dea, period. The issue now becomes, notwithstanding Executive Orders, what can we do without them.

then and only then will this situation get resolved. Take a look around, here are the biggest losers in this joke. All Government employees(they all ready had their wages frozen for three years and the real kicker is they just got a 14% increase in Insurance Premiums this last week),then there are all those Red State residents that live off the Federal Disparities Act which takes Tax revenues paid by Northern States to subsidize Western and Southern States because of the large amounts of Federal lands.

Going to be very interesting.

Notice also the BLM did not increase the grazing fee for ranchers in 16 states. What a rip off,$1.35/month/per head=typically $5.40/per head to craze your cows or sheep for the summer. Were we live, this bunch of yahoos are all Teabillies, what a win win deal. Billions in potential treasury revenues totally missed.
