"Things Fall Apart": Chinua Achebe has died.

When I read that novel as a teenager it had a profound effect on me.

RIP, Mr. Achebe.

Nigerian author Chinua Achebe has died, the spokesman for the Anambra state government and his publisher have said.

His home state of Anambra, in south-eastern Nigeria, was in mourning for its "illustrious son", the spokesman, Mike Udah, told the BBC .

Mr Achebe, 82, was one of Africa's best known authors. His 1958 debut novel Things Fall Apart has sold more than 10 million copies.
