(36,437 posts)What we need is RATIONAL arguments, like the kind we get from people who think the "government" is plotting to put them into camps; from people who spend significant portions of their yearly pay on their toy collection, so they can "stick it to the man;" from people who think American slavery and the Holocaust could have been avoided if only its victims were armed.
You know, the raaaaaaaaational people.

(3,190 posts)Just had a discussion on FB with one of my old high school friends, who's a gun nut. His arguement was that it's irrational to have an assault weapons ban when they can't even agree how to define what an assault weapon is, but in the same breathe admits that he believes the 2nd am was written so that the government wouldn't take over and take everybody's freedom (a la Hitler's Germany and Stalin's Russia).

(1,290 posts)Its simple 1st grade math boys and girls. There are more of us than them. No way any member of Congress should remain in office if they have an A NRA rating. Vote out ANY member of Congress who has an A NRA rating.

(1,236 posts)Try it that way, just once even for starters.
Include in that those against corporate welfare, warmongering (aka cowards), and runaway corporations.
They must also be against patenting 'life' (Monsanto comes to mind).
If it does not work out then try something new.
Either way we'll be no worse off than we are now.
Maybe we can ever recover our country's soul.

(5,954 posts)We all know that the NRA is just a front organization designed to DRAW ATTENTION AWAY from the gun industry and the gun lobby who are making billions of dollars off of selling guns to paranoid crackpots.
