It was believed that Samsung (005930) and LG (066570) were inching closer to patent peace, however new arguments and demands have now emerged. Samsung on Wednesday was said to have dropped another patent infringement lawsuit against the company, however LG is doubtful of the report. The company reasserted its claims against Samsung, alleging that the company is using LGs OLED technology illegally, and believes it deserves compensation, the Yonhap News Agency reported. Given LGs demands and recent threats against Samsungs Galaxy S 4 smartphone, it seems unlikely the two companies will settle their long running patent dispute behind closed doors.

Samsung is so corrupt that they had to hire two additional CEOs to watch each other.

On edit: It seems Apple has never had infringement issues:

(2,173 posts)I like LG products, but I don't get it. AMOLED displays (and some PMOLED) are in damn near all smart phones and other cell phones, iPhone, Samsung, Motorola, Sony, HTC, etc. This seems like a frivilous suit to me. The damn technology is about sixty years old, and wasn't even developed by any of the companies who use it - it came from a university in France or somewhere and Dow had something to do with the advancements in the 60's or so.
When all of this was happening, LG was just a blossoming merger of two companies in the aftermath of the Korean War and the closest they got to displays was making CRT TVs. I think Dow has the original patent on OLED technology, but it certainly wasn't LG - they didn't even have a presence in the US at the time, and really not until the 90s.
And something to think about. Every time one company sues another (constant dance they do) the legal fees add to the cost of the products. Every time. They almost always settle out of court and the lawyers walk away with suitcases full of money. We're the ones who pay for this bullshit.
