Progressive Radio in Seattle

Update on Progressive Radio now available in Seattle

KLAY 1180 AM: http://www.klay1180.com/

Station Manager, Bruce Bond says his station can be heard "from Seattle to Olympia," and adds that "We have terrestrial listeners that tune in regularly and report good reception in Burien, Silverdale, Kent, Factoria and Georgetown." The station also streams at klay1180.com.
Stephanie Miller is on KLAY 1180 AM from 9 AM - noon and Thom Hartmann is on 4 PM -7PM weekdays.

KBCS 91.3 FM http://kbcs.fm/site/PageServer/index.html

Bruce Worth the Program Manager for KBCS reports that, following five years of patience and persistence, KBCS is now broadcasting from its new location atop Cougar Mountain. At 1400 feet above sea level, the signal coverage has increased over 40% and reaches more than 2.5 million potential listeners across the Puget Sound. Their signal can now be heard as far east as Fall City, as far south as Tacoma, west to Poulsbo and the Kitsap Peninsula, and north up to Everett.

Thom Hartmann is heard weekdays from noon to 3 PM; Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now is on three times at 6 AM, 8AM and 5 PM.

They just turned our only low powered liberal station into an all Libertarian News format with definite leanings towards FoxNews. I'll still be able to get Thom on the TV, but not Stephanie once Al Jazeera changes the format of Current TV in July.

Maybe I should move to Seattle. I prefer trees anyway.

I stay where I am because it's only $450 a month, but I really like living in the woods or close to them.

7. High. Real estate in general is high in Seattle. You could probably

get something around that rent in outlying areas -- with LOTS of trees!

which is why, when I retired, I could not move back up there.
You can check rental prices easily by looking at Craigslist for Seattle rental listings.
Then check out their housing sale listings.
That will give you a flavor of housing costs in the Seattle/Puget Sound area.

I have visited Seattle many times but the last time I was there was in 2005. I even hooked up for lunch with DUer Seattle Girl whom doesn't seem to post here anymore.

My fortunes have taken a nose-dive since then, so it's just a pipe dream for me. I really like the northwest though, rainy days and all.

and LOTS of trees. 80% of Ala is forest and most land is privately owned. Trees are everywhere because of the heat, so shade is needed.
I live in the city limits of a small town and am surrounded by 15 acres of woods.
And pay less than 500.00 for a very nice house on 2 acres.
IN town, did I say that???
We even have chickens!

we spent some time in Florida and Texas. I don't like the heat, the humidity or the giant sized bugs. I really prefer cool damp weather and I like being up in the mountains. Where I live now on the California coast is pretty cool most of the time, but it is deserty and you really can have too much sun. IMHO.

There are towns around here -- closer to the mountains, in the mountains, where I'm assuming that the rent/real estate is much more reasonable than Seattle. Not sure about the overall cost of living, though.

The good thing about where you're living is that, even though you can have too much sun (and I'm with you on that -- not a sun/heat lover either) and least it's not constant. That would drive me crazy.

I can't imagine a mind like dixiegrrrrl's in the country!

I used to live on acreage - surrounded by forest - and loved it.
But I was also surrounded by Ditto-heads too. I called it 'The land of Limbaugh'.

They stopped being friendly when this motocross-racing, big-new-house-owning goofball proved to be an absolute soshlisss hippy at heart!!!1!

I do love the nature, and still I was only 8 minutes to town; big mall, Italian food, espresso stands...
Best part was opening my car door after the commute from work and smelling the trees. Miss that too much.

That's the only way (other than my Thom Hartmann podcast) that I hear any progressive radio during the day due to where I live

Thanks - k/r

KBCS has fairly weak signal, on the Eastside oddly. They need more donations for more towers I guess. They have the 2 best news & info shows available!
