Two youths arrested in shooting death of Georgia baby

Brunswick, Georgia (CNN) -- Two teenagers have been arrested in the shooting death of a 13-month-old boy who was in his stroller, according to police in Brunswick, Georgia.

The suspects are a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, Police Chief Tobe Green told reporters Friday. He said they are being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.

"We are turning every stone to get a motive," said Green.

Not like with Susan Smith where she was obviously lying and thought she'd thought of everything.

We should expect contrite apologies from people that said anything disparaging about this poor mother.

Right?

I did post that I thought the story sounded fishy. I never meant to imply that I was set to convict her, but I have watched enough reality crime stuff on cable to know that she certainly could have been the killer.

I think the fact that it is true, just goes to show that even something as unbelievable as this.....the cold blooded killing of a baby by teenagers, over perhaps a few bucks, indicates that we are too far gone as a society to feel safe in anything we do really.

I'm sure nothing would be different if guns were not so readily available. I'm confident someone will point out that these kids could have gotten the guns anyways.....and I'm sure that makes us all feel a whole lot safer.

That stops these two from repeating their violence. Now what about the many thousands of other violent thugs and assorted nutcases still walking free with virtual unlimited access to death machinery?

Are we supposed the feel better and safer now?

I just don't know how in the world we ever get there.

If the tiny innocents of Sandy Hook weren't enough, it leaves me with little hope that anything of real significance will ever be done.

There is something VERY wrong with us. And not just on this issue, it's across the board.

The people who would shoot a baby in the face have no moral compass or conscience. They are sick, twisted people who deserve their fates. Even in prison, they won't have an easy time. A lot of prisoners are fathers - God help the people who committed this crime because prison will be rough.
