The bottom picture is of fracking-devastated Pavillion, Wyoming. It was not intended to suggest that fracking eats mountains, for heaven's sake. Rather, it portrays a very possible consequence to unbridled extractive processes; it's a very real concern in my Colorado county, where we presently have 20,000+ fracking wells, and farmers are being told to do without water. Lame, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

that causes devastation, it's normal to use before and after photos of the same location.

Anything else destroys the comparison.

The good news is that everyone in my neighborhood got my intent. Like me, they don't want Colorado to wind up like that place in Wyoming. It's pretty simple, really.
