Wrongfully convicted Florida man wins $7 million civil judgment. (Spent 26 years in prison)

A really sad story: Anthony Caravalla was 15 years old at the time and had an IQ of around 70. The detectives investigating the rape and murder of a woman had initially focused on an individual who ultimately turned out to be the actual killer, but then inexplicably turned their focus to Caravella, and coerced a confession out of him.

Today he was awarded a $7 million judgment against two of the officers. The story:

Of course, I'm certainly not one to broadbrush all law enforcement officers, but for the particular two that were found liable in this case, Caravella deserves to collect as much as he can from them for what they did to him. Hopefully they won't hide out behind bankruptcy.

26 years in prison knowing you are innocent, losing the prime years of your life. Could you even begin to imagine?
