Father accidentally kills 10-year-old son while cleaning shotgun

FAIRMONT, N.C. -- Authorities say a 10-year-old boy was killed in North Carolina when he was shot by his father while the parent cleaned a shotgun.

Robeson County deputies say 34-year-old Christopher Stanlane was on the couch in his Fairmont home wiping down the gun around 4 p.m. Sunday when it fired.

Investigators say the boy was sitting in front of his father watching television and was struck in the head. Paramedic declared him dead at the home.

And, too many drink while playing with their guns, are on medications that alter judgement, and worse.

But hey, the yahoo with guns in the apartment next to you has to be considered OK right up till there is blood on the walls.

That odd, because if I accidentally run a stop sign because I'm distracted by something and run over a 10 year old and kill him, I'd definitely be charged with manslaughter. I guess killing with a gun makes it better.
