Jon Tester Announces Support For Gay Marriage

Newly elected Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) announced his support for same-sex marriage on Tuesday, the day the Supreme Court considered the constitutionaly of Proposition 8, California's gay marriage ban.

“Montanans believe in the right to make a good life for their families," he wrote on his Facebook page. "How they define a family should be their business and their business alone. I’m proud to support marriage equality because no one should be able to tell a Montanan or any American who they can love and who they can marry.”

Democratic Sens. Mark Begich (D-AK), Claire McCaskill (MO), Mark Warner (VA) and Jay Rockefeller (WV) also backed gay marriage this week.

TIME has compiled a list of the last Democratic holdouts, which include Mark Pryor (Ark.), Bob Casey (Pa.), Bill Nelson (Fl.), Tom Carper (Del.), Tim Johnson (S.D.), Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Kay Hagan (N.C.), Mary Landrieu (La.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.) and Joe Donnelly (Ind.).
