Texas Lt. Gov: “Over our dead bodies are we going to let this state turn blue”

-snip-

“Our core values are being attacked on a daily basis … by government fiat in our courts and in our schools, “ said state Sen. Donna Campbell, R-New Braunfels. “They want to redefine marriage between a natural man and natural woman the same way the want to redefine the Constitution. It’s just not going to stand with me.”

Campbell said these values had to be defended here, “because there is no other Texas to move to.”

“The hope of America is Texas,” said Sen. Ken Paxton.

“Over our dead bodies are we going to let this state turn blue,” said Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who said Texans’ conservative values were under steady assault from President Barack Obama and his administration.

Texas leads the country in LOWEST voter turnout of any State. If the Dems could mobilize the TX Dem voters, that State can easily turn Blue.

Republicans absolutely hate it when minorities, women and poor people vote. It angers them.

Back in the 1800's do you think the Mexicans that
controlled the Texas frontier moved away because
there were too many Americanos in Tejas?

but no.. new spain and then mexico held on as long as they could. remember the alamo? (it's fun to ask that.)

a tidbit about no. new mexico that few know about.. the penitentes (the very creepy fraternal order of jesus christ) is one of the old secret societies in christian history. started during the 1st crusade and they still exist in jerusalem, and a few other places.. there's a few in cuba i think and mallorca and here in the top half of NM are where most live.

since NM didn't have an archbishop for a couple centuries (there's a novel about it) they missed out on a lot of changes in catholicism. by the time the u.s.a. got here the penitentes of NM were their own thing and they fought a bloody war against the protestants sometimes massacring whole families while dressed in their KKK outfits.

they're still around flagellating themselves and scarifying and crucifying each other in their windowless chapels. can't get a good picture of them so the one attached is of the mallorca bunch but the NM variety dress the same except in black.

the patron systems lives on..

Battleground Texas (BT) is beginning to get the notice of the TX GOP. I expect a heavy counter-offensive to blunt the effectiveness BT has already shown.

One of the primary goals of BT is simply to get as many people voting, regardless of party affiliation... that being said, should we get more people voting than not voting (as trend in TX since the early 80's), TX would, by fact of demographics alone, turn blue.

It's for this reason alone I expect a heavy and quick response from the GOP, and why Dewhurst's recent statement is not merely expected, but a foreseen consequence of the GOP finally beginning to realize that BT is no small affair.

Expect to hear more statements from the GOP-- they've realized there's a fly in their ointment. A rather well-financed fly...

Few years ago. Texas had the great Sam Rayborn and LBJ as Congress members and it was blue then. In Harris County (Houston) voted for Obama and has minority groups outnumbering whites, or I should say angry old whites. This is happening in other areas also, we need to continue the grass roots campaign and once again we will be BLUE again.

...maybe God will accommodate your wish, Mr. Dewhurst, cuz Texas is definitely going blue. It's not a matter of "if" but "when". Anyone who can do basic math can see the inevitability of it. Therein lies the problem......they know what the logic dictates and they are powerless to change it. All they can do is postpone it as long as they can in an effort to retain control. The ignorant redneck motherf*ckers who call themselves the GOP here in Texas cannot win because you can't fix stupid!
