Dick Durbin is up for re-election in 2014. Now would be a good time to primary him.

Senator Dick Durbin has been a strong voice advocating for Illinois’ working families. As the Assistant Majority Leader, Senator Durbin has been a leader in America’s economic recovery, the effort to make health care more affordable and accessible, and protect consumers in Illinois and across the country. A close ally of President Obama, Senator Durbin is helping lead efforts to pass the DREAM Act, save students from debt, protect the Great Lakes, invest in infrastructure and build bipartisan consensus to solve the nation’s fiscal challenges. Senator Durbin won re-election by 39 points in 2008 and recent polling shows him beating multiple potential Republican challengers by double digits.

Key Facts

Democratic Senator: Dick Durbin

Republican Candidates: TBD

Someone running on very Strong SS issues, raising the cap, no chained CPI, etc. This guy is really a shame and a disappointment. He belongs on the other side of the aisle with his buddies on the cat food commission. He is one of the reasons we have to fight for every goddamn bread crumb we get.

Durbin has no Republican challengers. This is a good time for a Democratic challenger to step up.

"That doesn't mean DNC won't support him--quite the contrary."

...a primary means that the DNC will likely be supporting one candidate over the other, that is unless they stay out of it (unlikely). All it takes is for someone to step up and qualify.

"The Primary that you are calling for, but is otherwise not scheduled, you mean?"

...If it were "scheduled," why would I be "calling for" it.

Maybe this person could run:

Kwame Raoul

Maybe the people of illinois aren't ready to get rid of Durbin.

It's a perfect time.
