(crossposted from Iowa forum - curious what others have to say)
We have been living in this petri dish for the nation for the past four years.
So how badly has this nightmare of a decision affected your life?
How many divorces have you had? How many felonies?
A waiting country wants to know just how miserable things have become for you since April 3, 2009.

(62,406 posts)kind of sarcastic and I used petri dish in that context. (you know ha-ha)
Plus I had originally posted in the Iowa Forum and then decided to X-post in GD to see if anyone else had a comment.
One other thing - the rural midwest is often considered to be among the most truly conservative (as opposed to nut case conservative). i recall that Iowa was targeted by Lambda Legal in the O'brien case because of Iowa's history as a state that was ahead in tolerance and conservative by nature. So we were a petri dish of sorts.
The whole post was meant to be somewhat light pointing out that when conservative old mainstay Iowa allowed gay marriage nothing happened.
As for me, I was nervous until someone explained to me that I didn't HAVE to marry a gay...........

(2,140 posts)Much as I expected.EXACTLY as I expected,it's had no discernible effect on me,my wife or our marriage.I have somehow refrained from embarking on any crime sprees. We are no more and no less miserable than we were before. Most miseries we do experience are rooted in some rightwing shit-baggerery or other and are never even once influenced by who wants to marry who.Never.

(20,816 posts)every day I live in fear that hubby will up and file divorce papers because people of the same sex can now marry each other just across a border.
(can't find the sarcasm thingie, but would hope it wouldn't be needed!!)
