Catholic league attack demands Time Warner have ‘serious talk’ with Bill Maher

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/03/28/catholic-league-attack-demands-time-warner-have-serious-talk-with-bill-maher/

No one forces anyone to listen to Bill Maher

As far as the Catholic league saying:

There is no other entertainer in the nation who has repeatedly spoken about the Catholic Church, especially its priests, in more vile and obscene terms than Bill Maher,”

Let's see, maher is on PAY TV. limbaugh and all the other hate talk bigots use public airwaves, and expose their racist and bigoted views EVERYDAY

If the Catholic league feels so offended about Maher, would they come out against right wing hate radio also?

I doubt it

Seems a bit extreme, when it's referencing Maher's shtick regarding catholic priests and young boys. What's not to hate for a church that did everything possible to conceal the abuse, cared nothing about the victims and protected the abusers? You don't think that's totally horrible and offensive? If so, don't see your problem with Maher.

Or did he repeat his earlier statement that Catholics need to be put in ghettos?

Or was it the one where he suggested Catholics should be force fed birth control pills?

Oh, he didn't say anything like those?

Okay, what's the threat? There's a difference between criticizing a clergy that insists on everyone following their dogma on birth control, abortion, and sexuality-- that is-- a clergy that created a safe haven for child molesters, and exhibiting bigotry against Catholics.

Sikhs, for instance, demand that believers don't cut their hair and that they wear turbans. You don't hear criticism of the Sikhs, because they never insist that everyone, in or out of the religion, must do it, and they don't equate a haircut with murder.

I know I'm going to get in trouble for the last sentence. I'm proud to be in Bill Maher's company.

nonbelievers/those who have woken up. Some ex-catholics (me for one) have a hatred for the way in which the catholic church has used the vulnerable flock for it's sinister purposes over many centuries. Jesus became overtly angry--tossing the money baskets on the floor of the temple--decrying the making of money in His Father's house yet the pope sits on a solid gold throne being ministered to every moment of his ridiculous life while parishioners cannot even use condoms to limit their family's size to a number which they can actually afford to feed.
Of course we all know that the actual number of pedophilic crimes committed by the ordained priests and nuns are just the tip of the iceberg--many more have not reached the light of day for many reasons.
Perhaps You can begin to imagine that if You sense hatred towards the catholic church it may be because it has developed a long standing method of enabling and concealing these crimes and if crimes of these natures were committed to one of your sons or daughters you may feel the same way. In this respect You should see that all of our children ARE our sons and daughters and how about some empathy and love for them???

It makes me think that there are some religious people out there who fear their religion isn't quite real.

I would be amazed if a Catholic had ever knocked on your door. I've been proselytized in three languages, all were by Jehovah's Witnesses. Catholics spread God's love through good works, the incredibly array of charitable organizations for the poor and sick, none of which, as far as I know, require the recipient to be Catholic or pray at all. Different denominations take different approaches to how to spread Christianity.
