Mitt Romney: "I like the life of being an American citizen. It's good to live a normal life again."

Bonus Quote of the Day

"I have to admit, being able to go back to our own life and going to the grocery store and shopping on my own is kind of nice to be by myself without a bunch of people hanging around with me. I like the life of being an American citizen. It's good to live a normal life again."

-- Mitt Romney, interviewed on Dennis Miller's radio show.

Apparently they will give a media job to any washed up wanna-be from the 1980s as long as they are spouting RW junk.

I wonder what happened to him. I don't think most people have epiphanies that late in life.

Myself, I kind of bounced around ideologically and settled in my late 20s. He seemed to undergo a seismic shift much later.

Do you ever think he's slept in a car with rusted out floorboards in the parking lot of a 7-11? Has he ever taken his kids to 2nd-hand clothing stores because even the discount stores were too expensive? Has he ever had to juggle between keeping the electricity on or buying groceries for the kids? And how about those groceries? Has he ever had to put things back because the total cost was more than the $35 he had in his wallet?

No, I don't think he comprehends what "normal" really means.

"Normal" isn't what we see on television, either. I wonder what percentage of Americans have never bought a new car? I wonder what percentage of Americans send flowers, or have gardeners, or participate in the material life.

"Normal" in America is "getting by." Not doing as well as families did in the 40s, 50s and 60s.

And If you get bored counting your money you can just buy another company and fire everyone. Nothing cheers up a normal guy like destroying other peoples lives. Although trampling a stable boy on a Belgian Warm Blood runs a close second.

All of it.

And repatriate all your fucking money from off-shore to American banks. And pay the taxes on them.

And pay another $50M to the U.S. Treasury just because you needed to catch up on past taxes that you evaded.

Then head to prison for the rest of your life, punished because you failed to pay a fucking dime on your taxes.
