"I read an article in the news just the other day wondering 'Has Washington Missed Its Opportunity?' because as time goes on after Newtown, somehow people start moving on and forgetting. Let me tell you, the people here, they don't forget. Grace's Dad's not forgetting. Hadiya's Mom hasn't forgotten. The notion that two months or three months after something as horrific as what happened in Newtown happens and we've moved onto other things? That's not who we are. That's not who we are.

(14,400 posts)sections of any of the news sites about this you'll see that the NRA has its assholes on full alert. I know that reading those things is like staring into the smelly armpit of humanity but sometimes I just can't help myself.
They are really busy trying to change the subject or pretending that we already have enough rules.
I'm getting to the point where I'd like to see a referendum put to the people.
A list of regulations and two boxes. Vote yes for them or no to reject them.
I don't think the NRA would like that idea.

(39,343 posts)Nobody tells a firefighter to put out a fire. It's the damn job he was hired to do. Didn't I hear that 90%+ were in favor of increased safety controls over weapons, yet nothing is getting done out of fear of lobbyists and primary opponent threats.
Do your job or we'll find people who will. Don't fear the lobbyists, fear the voters.
