PSA: if you don't have a weather radio, set your smart phone to get weather alerts.

Raining like heck with wind right now.

Hopefully, we'll cool down before it hits Iowa. We're at 90 degrees right now.

Hopefully, this front will bring some cool weather and break the humidity. Now, to find a remedy for the gnats.

Fortunately, despite the weather radio going off 4 times, nothing bad. Wind, rain, and a little debris. No tornadoes or hail.

All in all, it wasn't as bad as I'd expected with the weather alert going off every 19 minutes there for a bit.

A storm with intense bursts of rain and roaring winds moved across the region Sunday afternoon, felling trees, blowing away carport awnings and knocking out power.

At the height of the storm, firefighters searched the Elkhorn River for people in inner tubes who were in distress. Firefighters were at several crossing points along the river, including at West Center Road and West Maple Streets.

Many of the 61 people in the river were helped out by firefighters.

The top wind gust recorded at Eppley Airfield in Omaha was 60 mph, reached at 5:21 p.m. A 70 mph gust was recorded in Tekamah, the National Weather Service said.
