A Saleh v. Bush Lawsuit Update

"The Department of Justice, who is defending the Bush Administration, had previously responded to the complaint by requesting that the case be thrown out. The Bush clan is claiming that the planning of the war occurred within the scope of their employment and they therefore have immunity." But here's the holdup - "But rather than dismissing the case, the hearing was taken off calendar because the judge on the case asked for additional information. So Mr. Comar is filing a 2nd amended complaint on June 9, 2014 that provides more details about the planning of the Iraq war and when it started. According to Mr. Comar’s evidence, the Bush/Cheney team started planning the invasion of Iraq as far back as 1997.

The 2nd amended complaint will explain that the war was motivated for personal enrichment and the war was a “crime of aggression.” One of the points that Mr. Comar discussed was that the Bush Administration does not have immunity if it can be proven that the war’s planning did not take place after George W. Bush was first elected. This means that the war had been planned outside the scope of their employment and so conspired to commit this “crime of aggression.”

So glad this wasn't just kicked to the curb. I know the international court is looking into this as well. (The bold emphasis is mine). Here's the link to the article.

Will certainly be interesting to watch, will be very hard for the judge to let it go through I would think. The blow back would be tremendous.

"The neoconservative movement that fueled the fire will also be described as well as what financial damages are being sought for the Plaintiff, Mrs. Saleh. Clearly, the judge is being extremely careful in writing a decision, and it could take another six to nine months to see if the trial moves forward."

I hope to god it Does proceed. Since I wasn't sure what a neoconservative is I looked it up. This is what I found. The “neocons” believe American greatness is measured by our willingness to be a great power—through vast and virtually unlimited global military involvement. But this has always been the neocon ruse—if neoconservatives can convince others that fighting some war, somewhere is for America’s actual defense, they will always make this argument and stretch any logic necessary to do so. Whether or not it is true is less important than its effectiveness. But their arguments are only a means to an end. Neoconservatives rarely show any reflection—much less regret—for foreign policy mistakes because for them there are no foreign policy mistakes. America’s wars are valid by their own volition. America’s “mission” is its missions.

Plus there's a hellofalotta money in the military complex & defense contractors. I am heartened that the judge did not dismiss it automatically. I'm going to keep following it.

This is an excellent in depth read. (well, for me anyway) Wow; I had not even heard of the Project for the New American Century. I think imperialism is a good one word summary. This is going to take a second read after I get some caffeine in my system.

We all believe that the more people who become aware of Empire and its shenanigans, the more we might all be able to make it seem like just a bad dream.

Keep posting all you find, mwyn8, spread the light!!
