Texas woman shoots and abandons caged mother dog as puppies still try to suckle

I have nothing but pure hatred for this person.

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/06/02/texas-woman-shoots-and-abandons-caged-mother-dog-as-puppies-still-try-to-suckle/

A Texas woman told police that she shot her caged dog and left it on the side of the road with a litter puppies still trying to suckle because she was “agitated” with the animal.

Parker County deputies arrested 44-year-old Tammy Green Douglas Sunday on charges of cruelty to a nonlivestock animal after the news went out on social media that authorities were looking for a suspect in the shooting, according to the Star-Telegram.

Authorities said that Douglas told them that she shot her 4-year-old heeler/shepherd mix, Aowa, in the head near her home with a 9 mm handgun, and then left the body in a cage with the 10 newborn puppies on Raley Road.

“Aowa was discovered early Thursday morning, May 28, 2014, inside a cage with her puppies nursing her deceased body, partially in the roadway on Raley Road in Springtown,” a statement from the Parker County Sheriff’s Office explained on Sunday.

In Texas, crimes against animals are not always taken seriously. The Parker County SO worked hard and fast on this one.

I hope their hard work pays off with a conviction and the MAXIMUM amount of time that can be handed to this scumbag is given.

Helpless just like the puppies, unable to run away or escape this human shaped vile toxic waste.

But I doubt she'll do any time. And I don't care what her excuse is going to be in court, if they actually go to trial. She's a POS.

That 'agitated' crap doesn 't fly with me. I know people who regularly get 'agitated' in the clinical sense and guess what - they are NOT allowed to OWN firearms - they are not incompetent.

I get agitated as hell as times but don't shoot anything to make things better. Because it doesn't.

At the very least, and I expect she will get leniency, she should be prohibited from owning any more living creatures.

But I doubt that will happen, either. You know, regulations and laws and courts are all 'tyranny' now. And guns and killing are the first resort.

Like shooting fish in a barrel, that dog and puppies were. No mercy, no empathy.

The dead dog, described in legal documents as a four-year-old brown Heeler/Shepherd mix named Aowa, was found in a cage along Raley Road six miles southeast of Springtown with 10 newborn puppies covered in their mother's blood suckling for milk.

Investigators were led to Douglas by a tipster who showed them a text message in which she allegedly boasted about the shooting. "I did what I did and I would do it again — if need be."

It was a school bus filled with Springtown students that came across the dead dog and puppies Wednesday morning. Shelby Honeycut, 15, said he was on board that bus. 9"I've never really seen something like that before," he said. "Why would you do something to a poor dog like this?"

According to an affidavit filed in connection with the case, Douglas acted out of revenge because Aowa had killed another dog that got too close to her litter.

this woman has outlived her usefulness. She is using up water and important minerals in her body that could be used for beneficial purposes.

I have never understood how someone could do something like this not only to the poor defenseless mother but then to think about the puppies. I get frustrated with my dogs one of which is lame due to old age. She poos and pees at the most inopportune times and places but I gladly clean up after her. She is my love and I would do anything for her.

someone had dumped two pregnant rabbits in a park...

they BOUND THEIR LEGS and tossed them out of A MOVING VAN.

and then we wonder how people are capable of hurting other humans?

if you can hurt a defenseless creature, youre just one tick away from hurting a human...

Okay, abandoning your animal is CRUEL. It is unforgivable. Just dropping an animal off somewhere is bad enough. But why do some people take that extra step -- binding legs, locking animals in apartments to starve or die of thirst, chaining them and leaving them to die ... Why compound the cruelty? WHY?!

For cruelty convictions involving depriving an animal of food or water, abandoning an animal, transporting an animal in a cruel manner, injuring someone else’s animal, and overworking an animal, the defendant will be punished with a Class A misdemeanor, which may include a fine up to $4,000, jail time up to a year, or both. If the conviction is a third offense involving these actions, the state may punish the defendant with a state jail felony. Under Texas law, a state jail felony may include jail time ranging from 180 days to 2 years and a fine up to $10,000.

Some cruel actions warrant harsher punishments even on the first conviction. For cruelty offenses involving the torture, killing, seriously injuring, poisoning, fighting, or tripping of an animal, a state jail felony may be imposed on the first conviction. If a defendant is convicted three times under these harsher penalties, he may be subject to a third degree felony sentence, which translates to imprisonment ranging from 2 to 10 years and a possible fine of up to $10,000.

If I were the prosecutor, I would charge her on multiple counts - one for killing the mother, one for killing the puppy who died, 11 counts of transporting an animal in a cruel manner, 10 counts of abandoning an animal (the all then living puppies), 10 counts of depriving an animal of food or water. Y'all get the big picture here? We're talking several hundred thousand dollars in fines and roughly 60 years in jail.

Gotta find the addy of the shelter there to help these puppies.

Also, protest to the sherif's dept. She belongs in jail! Hope the hell she doesn't have any children!
