He is tired but comfortable.

(29,699 posts)I'm sorry that he won't leave the hospital. I already miss him! I was so hoping for "that" miracle.

(149,580 posts)I wanted it so much too. When I think about all the scummy people walking around, and here's this brave intelligent man dying...I just want to scream.
I just feel so damn lucky I could be here to see him one more time...

(20,453 posts)With good reason, he's protective about that inline suction to his trach. Looks like he has the rotation bed and evidence of good trach care.
So dignified.
WC.. were you were my patient, I'd make sure you'd had it all.
Thanks for his image

His DU Family sends their support...
Thank you for your kindness in keeping updated. I didn't always post...but, always read your posts about his condition. Had stuff going on in own family...it's hard......it would get me crying.
Glad he is surrounded by his loved ones and DU Community...!
And thanks to you for keeping us informed.

(7,951 posts)I know Chris and Laurie are so happy you are there. Chris has always been so kind to me, answering my posts and being supportive instead of snarky and condescending. Both being Buckeyes was a bond between us. I know that he knows how valuable he is.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)He's always been that way with me too. How much I will miss that...

These pictures made me cry; I'm so happy you were able to visit Chris but my heart breaks for him, family and friends that he is in such poor health. I was also hoping he would somehow take a turn for the better. I'm thankful he is comfortable.
Thank you, Peggy. This must be very hard on you as well.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)It has been hard to see him in this way. I just always remember all the good times we've had, and then the tears show up.
I have never lost anyone who has been as close to me as Chris has.............and it is awful.
He and his wife are both happy I'm there. And I'm really glad I could do it.
Thank you for your very kind and tender words.........they mean so much.

(2,124 posts)I've been following his health crisis and so hoped that he would pull through. He's really been through the ringer and looks very tired. I've always enjoyed his posts over the years and its sad to think that he has so little time left. Please give him and his family our collective best wishes for the strength to deal with whatever comes their way!

(3,709 posts)How blessed you and this amazing man and his family are that you are friends. The circumstances are tragic but the joy of friendship and life transcend the things we cannot control.
I know your visit must be joyous and bittersweet but what a wonderful thing for you to do.
May the time he has left be filled with the love of his family and friends.
We will be thinking about all of you.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,580 posts)Your words ring true; this is exactly how things are for us.
Joyous and bittersweet, and how!
I could not stay away; our friendship is too deep, too important for that. We have cared for each other all these years--I had to be here. I would never have forgiven myself if I hadn't come.
How often do we actually get to say goodbye at the end, when it counts?
He is surrounded by our love and he knows it...And we are surrounded by his...
