New Yorkers to Barack Obama: You’ll love it
Some prominent New Yorkers have advice for President Barack Obama should he choose to make the Big Apple his home upon leaving office in 2017: Take the subway.
Its a great city. Youll love it here. But lets get some disclosure out of the way up front. You havent even come close to experiencing traffic in New York, said Pat Kiernan, Time Warner Cable News NY1 anchor. The trip from JFK on Friday afternoon isnt nine minutes via helicopter. Its 90 minutes on the Van Wyck and LIE. Please do come to the city, and join us on the subway as often as you can.
Where Obama will make his home after leaving the White House in 2017 remains undetermined, with many thinking he would return to his home in Chicago. However, the president has told friends that he would like to live in New York City, as reported by POLITICO on Sunday. Former NBA player and close friend of Obama Alonzo Mourning told POLITICO that while other cities have been thrown around, The one thing that stood out more than anything else was New York.
Obama wouldnt be the first president to make New York home after moving out of 1600 Pennsylvania. Bill and Hillary Clinton have based the Clinton Global Initiative in the city, which New York Sen. Chuck Schumer noted.
