aren't fit to rule is that they see democrats as the black party.

well, and minorities and women. republicans are equal opportunity bigots, you know.

I have a feeling they probably would've treated Clinton similarly.

a white president representing the interests of black people, in republicans' minds, is almost as bad as actually being black.

But it would be for different reasons. Let's list all of the white presidents who were harassed for 4 or 5 years over their birth certificate. That fact is telling IMO.

I think the right's problem with him, specifically the tenacity in which he has been attacked, is based mostly on the fact he's half black.

A female President, especially Hillary, would drive them to hysteria, but in a different way.

Many backward countries let women lead, when they were wives or daughters of men who led. IMO being an "other" race drives them nuttier. Note their subconscious desire Obama be "Kenyan." It underlines their underlying belief that black people aren't on par with them.

But one of "their" women ruling - at least she's kept in line by her loyalty to husband or father. IMO they can handle a white woman better than a black man for that reason.

In fact, the attacks on Hillary might be more along the tropes of the 90s - that she is this raging feminist man buster who is unfeminine, etc. They wouldn't per se care about her exchanging terror suspects for a US soldier. They'd just generally be hysterical that she was in charge at all.

John Kerry hadn't been black, he wouldn't have gotten "Swift Boated" during the 2004 election cycle...

errr....

wait a minute...

Sorry, but I disagree. Not everything Republicans don't like about Obama has to do with his color, much as some here would like to believe it does.

You can bet had Obama served with similar distinction, they'd have been even more horrible.

That's a given.

There should be some way to tune it out or make allowances for it.

Most people here are sincere about their criticism of Obama and have some legitimate concerns. Almost none of the GOP or those on the right ever do.
