"This film is exclusively, or almost exclusively, about men" is not a defect in a movie.
"All, or nearly all, these films are exclusively, or almost exclusively, about men" is a defect in a movie industry.

(10,362 posts)There are plenty of good actresses getting good roles, but they are on TV. Elizabeth Moss is superb in Mad Men. Taylor Schilling in Orange and Robin Wright in House of Cards are also very good. Maggie Smith is hilarious as the Dowager Countess in Downton.
F*** the big money studio movies. The roles for women are crap because major Hollywood movies are marketed toward teenage boys and the formulaic rom-com hordes. The dialogue is so cringeworthy that I'm embarrassed just to sit through the previews.
