Bears repeating: You make peace with your enemies, not your

friends. Drawing this Afghani war to an end necessitates closing Gitmo. We cannot hold these people in perpetuity just because some people here are afraid. Following both of the world wars, we released prisoners and negotiated with our enemies and this was after millions of people had died at the hands of the enemy. We did the same thing after Vietnam. We negotiated with the enemy; we released prisoners, as did they. In my opinion, the only reason you would have a problem with moving down the path to close Gitmo or to have negotiated the return of Bergdahl is that you prefer we stay at war. There is no justification under the sun for continuing to fight this war.

People need to get a grip.
