My plan as well. I still missed one due to a family emergency (death in family three days before the election). I have not, but consider absentee. I prefer to still fill my ballot.

I had been as smart as you when I was younger. I'd give anything to go back and slap myself for all the elections I paid no attention to because . . . partying, living my life, all the foolish excuses I thought were good reasons. I was young and stupid, thought voting didn't make a difference. Until I got older and realized idiots like me are the main reason government so often doesn't work.

1980 was my first.

It hurt pretty bad. But I kept coming back for more, every single election.

Isn't it amazing how good it feels to vote?

And of course, keep it up. Vote in every primary and generally election and odd-ball civic election until you can no longer make it to the polling place.

It never stops feeling good.

It does feel good, doesn't it? Even when my candidates lose, as in 2000 and 2004, I feel good knowing I did my part.

I've missed exactly ONE election in forty plus years of voting. One year, business unexpectedly sucked me out of town and I missed a Podunk school board election.
