Poll: Public supports Obama plan to curb coal plant emissions

According to a PPP survey of 735 registered voters, taken Monday as the plan was announced, the public backs Obama’s proposed pollution curbs by a 53-35 percent margin. Independent voters endorse the plan by a 59-29 percent margin.

Pollution reduction standards “are popular with voters across the country” and voters “have little tolerance for a Presidential candidate in 2016 who doesn’t believe that climate change is caused by human activity,” PPP said in summarizing its findings.

Public Policy Polling did find that only 38 percent of those polled said they would be willing to vote for a candidate who does not believe that humans are causing climate change.
