‘Truther’ Who Stole Sandy Hook Memorial Items Has Finally Been Arrested

His anonymous telephone voice claimed that the Sandy Hook Massacre was a hoax. This cruel taunt, made to two families of its littlest victims, seven-year-olds Grace McDonnell and Chase Kowalski, came from Andrew David Truelove, 28, Virginia. He was arrested this morning in Herndon, Va. with help help of Stonington Police.

The calls came after Truelove stole the sign honoring Grace from the memorial park in Mystic, Conn. and the sign honoring Chase from this memorial park in Mantoloking, N.J.

Truelove turned himself in on an unrelated incident on May 26th for a probation violation. While in jail he has been charged for his recent actions, possession of stolen property, with more serious charges to follow. He is held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Charges in Connecticut and New Jersey are pending said the Virginia police.

And NOT allowed to have a radio or internet capability to listen to that dangerous, divisive shit anymore. I think people like alex jones are a menace to society for what they stir up. They're the type that think their personal "freedom-freedoms" actually DO entitle them to yell "FIRE!" in a crowded theater - ANYWAY. Because. Because Not Even Benghazi. Because They Don't Even Need A Benghazi.

Sigh... another white male paranoiac. Only this is a younger one. It hard to determine which is worse - an old (or older) crank like cliven bundy or bill o'reilly, or someone in this guy's demographic.

This ass clown lives near me and I had no clue. I hope his next stop is a court date in Stonington Conn and then a nice prison term in Connecticut and Virginia. What a loser.

with someone who is claiming that not just Sandy Hook, but Aurora, 9/11, Pearl Harbor, the moon landing, etc., were all one hundred percent made up, manufactured, never happened, etc., all to make sure the government kept us "controlled" and eager for more wars. Son kept trying to argue with him, but I and others finally told him there was simply no point, that people that fucking crazy and delusional will never listen or hear anything you say that's against what they "believe" and will just call you a part of the "conspiracy". Truly frightening that people like that exist and are walking around among us.

Cause, you know, it's would have been REALLY hard to push the button to start the camera while wearing a space suit.

That was the web site he contacted with his claim that he stole the signs. The site asked for proof, and he sent pix from his smart phone. That's where I learned about "geotags".

I don't have such a device, preferring a real SLR camera, so I had no idea that the GPS info is included in the JPEG properties. I went to a pic my son took at his house with his iPhone and opened the shooting info in the EXIF property. There, along with the usual camera info, was all the GPS data and a button that said "Find In Google Maps", so I clicked it.

Suddenly, I was looking at a picture of my son's house in street view and a handy Google map of his neighborhood. Now I'm freaking out all my friends by sending them pictures they took of their kids with a screen grab of what their pic tells me about how to find them. hahaha

They sure are making hate crimes harder for people who have phones that are smarter than they are.

My friend sent this pic to me after he painted the engine bay of my Triumph. I opened the properties to this dialog box. It has the usual shooting info that I've always used with my camera, and lists details about his iPhone:

But if I scroll down he has the GPS info that his smart phone embedded into the image, including the direction he was facing, and that button that says "Show In Google Maps":

When I press that, this is what I get:

His resto shop is around the back as this handy map indicates:

He (and others) replied with concern that the govt is spying on them, but I thought they missed the point. While law enforcement could use that data in an investigation, it's perhaps more important that predators may see pictures of their kids adorable but their house hard to find. I didn't tell them that sites like Facebook and Photobucket apparently remove this data for cloud storage. Why spoil my fun in making them paranoid?

In the case of the thief who stole those memorial signs, he simply emailed the pix with EXIF data intact like my friend did here.

I understood immediately how easy it would be to find any of my grandchildren whose pics are posted on Facebook, so I shared your story with family and friends immediately. I'm glad to hear Facebook and Photobucket removes the GPS info, but it's definitely good to know in case they post their children's photos elsewhere, through the tubes. Thanks for going through so much trouble and describing in detail how it works.
